Hyon-Xhi Tan 12th Australasian Virology Society Meeting 2024

Hyon-Xhi Tan

Hyon-Xhi Tan is an NHMRC Fellow at the Viral Vax Lab (www.viralvaxlab.com), Doherty Institute. He is an immunologist with a deep interest in anti-viral humoral immune responses against influenza and human coronaviruses. Through studies combining murine, non-human primate animal models and human clinical samples, his research has detailed immunological mechanisms driving B cell recognition of complex viral antigens, developed novel vaccine strategies to enhance neutralising antibody protection and established insights into immune factors that underpin effective lung-mucosal humoral immunity against respiratory viruses. His research has been featured in Nature Medicine, Science Immunology, JCI, and Nature Communications. Dr Hyon-Xhi Tan was awarded the 2021 NHMRC Frank Fenner Investigator Grant Award for his work investigating humoral immunity elicited by vaccination or infection for influenza and SARS-CoV-2.
